Why CBSE Mandatory disclosure is a must for a CBSE School Website
CBSE mandatory disclosure is a set of guidelines that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) requires all affiliated schools to follow. These guidelines mandate that all CBSE schools must have certain information publicly available on their website.
What is CBSE Mandatory Disclosure
To bring the transparency and build up trust among the stakeholders, CBSE has been giving emphasis on “Mandatory Public disclosure” of relevant information by its affiliated Schools. This information has to be displayed on the schools website as per clause 2.4.9 of Affiliation Bye laws 2018, as per the format prescribed in Appendix IX of Circular dated 05/03/2021. The format of Mandatory Public Disclosure along with the relevant circular is once again attached for ready reference.

Where to display CBSE Mandatory Disclosure on Website
The schools are informed to display the same on the Home page itself of the school website under an icon “Mandatory Pubic disclosure”. The icon link so posted on the schools’ website should be distinctly visible for easy accessibility. It is important that this information is easily accessible to the public and therefore the link on the website should be prominently displayed. In this connection, it has been observed that inspite of clear directions from the Board, some of the schools are not following these provisions. It is therefore, reiterated that it is imperative on the part of the schools to comply not only with the provisions of State Education department but also with the provisions of the Affiliation and Examination Bye-Laws of the Board, to bring transparency and easy accessibility by stakeholders.
Is it essential for granting and extending Affiliation
The Central Board of Secondary Education has also made it as a mandatory pre condition for granting or extending affiliation. The School leaders and Managers of the schools are directed to take note of the above condition and comply with the provisions mentioned in circular dated 05.03.2021. If it has not been complied with already, the same may be done within a period of one month failing which the Board will be constrained to take necessary action as per provisions mentioned in Chapter 12 of Affiliation Bye-Laws, 2018.
Here are ten reasons why CBSE mandatory disclosure is a must for a school website:
Transparency: CBSE mandatory disclosure ensures that schools provide relevant and accurate information to parents and students, promoting transparency.
Compliance: CBSE affiliated schools must comply with the board’s guidelines to maintain their affiliation status. Failure to do so may result in penalties, fines, or even loss of affiliation.
Safety: The disclosure of information related to safety measures, such as fire safety, emergency evacuation plans, and first aid facilities, can help ensure the safety of students and staff.
Infrastructure: CBSE mandatory disclosure mandates that schools provide information about their infrastructure, such as the number of classrooms, laboratories, and playgrounds. This can help parents make informed decisions when selecting a school for their children.
Faculty details: Information about the qualifications and experience of the faculty members is essential for parents to know who will be teaching their children.
Admissions: CBSE schools must provide detailed information about their admission procedures, including eligibility criteria, fees, and other relevant information.
Curriculum: Details about the school’s curriculum, including the courses offered, the academic calendar, and the examination schedule, must be publicly available on the website.
Affiliation: Information about the school’s affiliation with CBSE, including the affiliation number, date of affiliation, and extension of affiliation, must be disclosed.
Mandatory disclosures: Schools must provide information on various mandatory disclosures such as the CBSE certificate, safety certificate, and school transport safety certificate.
RTI: Schools must also provide information related to Right to Information (RTI), such as the name and contact details of the designated Public Information Officer (PIO), and the procedure for filing RTI applications.
In conclusion, CBSE mandatory disclosure is crucial for CBSE-affiliated schools to comply with the board’s guidelines and maintain transparency. It helps parents and students make informed decisions and ensures the safety and well-being of all members of the school community.
